Where to stay and eat in Yorkshire, Sheffield..

Sometimes a long weekend getaway to a new city is all you need to satisfy your travel bug for the time being and I was more than overdue a change of scenery. My immediate family and I took an impromptu trip to Sheffield, a city in the English county of South Yorkshire for a long weekend of relaxation and comfort. If your ever in the city or are thinking about taking a trip to a city full of lush greenery, fresh country air and super friendly people, I highly recommend you get booking a stay at the following hotel in the centre of Sheffield.

Where to stay: The Copthorne Hotel

The Copthorne Hotel Sheffield is a modern corporate hotel, located on Bramall Lane, close to the heart of the city centre. With 158 en-suite guest rooms, including the luxurious Penthouse Suite, fantastic large event facilities, and delicious British Cuisines, this 4-star hotel is one of the most popular in the area for a super affordable rate to my surprise. Situated on site at Bramall Lane, home to Sheffield United Football Club (so be aware that the lobby can get somewhat busy and rowdy if there is game on with it being a stone throw away from the stadium).

We decided to book the hotels club room after being notified that the penthouse suite was already booked for the weekend. Each room from the standard, to the hotels suites are set at a super affordable rate, with the club room only costing us £80 per night! And, it was extremely clean, modern, comfortable and relaxing. Take a look for yourself.

The spacious Club Room, at 27 sqm, is defined by quality, comfort and style. Enjoy the perks of superior in-room amenities, complimentary breakfast and, as you won’t want to leave, a late checkout. One aspect of the club room that heavily stood out to me was the fact that you almost feel right at home from the minute you roll in your suitcase, to when you take off your shoes, walk on the spongy carpet floors and get into your robe to unwind. I’d highly recommend booking a stay here if your looking for a modern, affordable chic accommodation.

Where to eat? All-Siam

Nestled in the quant Ecclesall road, lies the lovely All Siam Thai restaurant that I am heavily craving as I write this post. Fresh, flavourful food in a small yet fine restaurant that resembles a homely dining room is where you need to be if your ever in Sheffield. Reservations will be needed as this little gem is ALWAYS fully booked. My party and I were also pleasantly surprised to know that as well as the food being amazing, the service was also impeccable.

To start our dining experience, we ordered a few cocktails (because why not at 12pm on a Tuesday), ranging from Pina coladas to the restaurants blend of fruity virgin mocktails, all of which were amazing.

For our starter, we all decided to try All Siam’s famous Goong Ha Maan, whole prawns with minced chicken wrapped in thin crisp pastry, deep fried and served with a plum dip. Light, clearly freshly made and full of flavour and beautiful spices (highly recommend you trying this). Main courses were later ordered which ranged from Gaeng Kiew Waan, a green chicken curry using fresh green chillies and cooked in cocunut milk with Thai aubergines, lime leaves and sweet basil leaves. A Pad Thai packed full of chicken, bean sprouts and noodles and a Chilli special fried rice which although sounds fairly simple, was probably the best I’d ever tasted and perfect for a relatively light lunch meal.

Sheffield is a beautiful city. Booming with history, friendly faces and many places perfect for creating new memories. I’d highly recommend a city break here if ever granted the opportunity, you won’t regret it!
